Complete Admission Process — 13 Steps

UPTAC 2026 has 4 main rounds + 1 internal sliding round + 2 special rounds. Follow every step carefully.

1
Prerequisite

Clear the Qualifying Entrance Exam

A valid JEE Main 2026 score is required for B.Tech. NATA for B.Arch, CUET UG (with AKTU chosen at application stage) for select courses. Without a valid scorecard, UPTAC registration cannot be completed.

2
Critical — Do This First

Generate Your APAAR / ABC ID

APAAR ID (Academic Bank of Credits ID) is mandatory for UPTAC 2026 registration. Registration remains incomplete without it. Generate it before starting.

  • Login to DigiLocker (digilocker.gov.in)
  • Navigate to Academic Bank of Credits and generate your ID
  • Save the APAAR ID number — it's needed during registration
3
One-Time Process

UPTAC Portal Registration & Fee Payment

Registration at uptac.samarth.edu.in is now closed (was extended to July 20, 2026). It was a one-time process — registration is NOT allowed in Round 2, 3 or 4. Candidates who already registered continue directly into choice filling and allotment rounds.

  • Entry required JEE Main 2026 application number, name, mother's name, DOB, gender
  • Personal and entrance exam details — no corrections allowed after submission
  • Verified via OTP on registered mobile and email
Registration Fee: ₹1,000 | Pay via UPI / Debit Card / Net Banking
4
Document Upload

Upload All Required Documents

Upload clear JPG/PDF scans during registration. Blurry or invalid documents cause verification delays.

  • Class 10th & 12th Marksheets and Certificates
  • JEE Main 2026 Scorecard and Admit Card
  • Passport-size Photo and Signature (as per specifications)
  • Aadhaar Card and APAAR/ABC ID Proof
  • Category Certificate (OBC/SC/ST/EWS), Income Certificate, UP Domicile Certificate
5
Verification

Central Document Verification

UPTAC's Central Document Verification Team verifies all uploaded documents on a rolling basis. On successful verification, an SMS and email confirmation is sent. Choice filling unlocks only after this step. If there is a mismatch, a correction window may be provided — check your email regularly.

6
Completed — Round 1

Choice Filling — Select Colleges & Branches

Round 1 Choice Filling ran from July 13 to 16, 2026. This is the most critical step in the entire counselling process. Choices must be filled in strict priority order — order matters enormously for seat allotment. Float candidates got another window (July 21–22) to edit choices before Round 2 allotment.

  • Mix dream college, safe options, and backup colleges
  • Fill the maximum number of valid choices — never fill just 1 or 2
  • Research placement records and infrastructure before finalising order

Seat Allotment Result — Round 2 (Out 24 July 2026)

UPTAC allots seats based on three factors: JEE Main Rank, Category, and Choice Order / Priority. The Round 2 seat allotment result was declared today, 24 July 2026, on uptac.samarth.edu.in. Log in with your application number and password to view your allotted college, branch and category under the "Seat Allotment" tab.

8
Key Decision — Do This Now

Willingness Options — Freeze / Float / Slide

After viewing your Round 2 allotted seat, choose one willingness option immediately. Freeze = accept permanently, no more upgrades. Float = keep the seat but participate in Round 3 for potential upgrade. Slide = keep the college, upgrade branch within the same institute. Most students choose Float.

9
Mandatory — Deadline 26 July 2026

Pay Seat Confirmation Fee

Pay the seat acceptance fee online right after choosing your willingness option, and before the 26 July 2026 deadline. Failure to pay on time = seat is cancelled and you are out of counselling for that round.

General / OBC: ₹20,000  |  SC / ST: ₹12,000  |  Adjusted against total college fee
10
Auto Participation

Rounds 3 & 4 — Late July / August 2026

If you chose Float or Slide in Round 2, you automatically participate in Round 3 and Round 4. Each round re-runs the allotment based on updated vacancies and your retained choice order. You must pay the seat fee again in each round you get a new allotment. Withdrawal is permitted in Rounds 2, 3, and 4 (with partial refund).

11
Institute Level

Internal Sliding Round

AKTU conducts an internal sliding round specifically for candidates who have already reported physically to their allotted institute. This allows a branch upgrade within the same college. Vacant seats for special rounds are published after this round.

12
Extra Opportunity

Special Rounds 1 & 2 — August 2026

Two special rounds are conducted for remaining vacant seats, open to JEE Main 2026, CUET UG 2026, and Class 12 merit candidates. These rounds are also open to candidates from other states. Candidates with lower ranks often find quality colleges available here.

13
Final Step

Physical Reporting at Allotted College

Once your seat is finalised, physically report to the allotted institute on the date specified in the UPTAC schedule. Carry all original documents for in-person verification. Pay the remaining college fees as per institute norms. Non-reporting cancels your admission.

Freeze, Float, or Slide?

The most important decision after seat allotment. Choose wrong and you could lose a better seat — or lose the seat you had.

🔒

Freeze

Permanently accept the current allotted seat. You exit all further rounds and will not be eligible for any upgrade. Choose this only when you are completely satisfied with both the college and the branch.

✅ Best For: Already got your dream seat

🚀

Float

Keep the current seat secured while remaining eligible for a better college or branch in the next round. You auto-participate in all upcoming rounds. If a better seat is allotted, the old one is automatically released. The most popular choice among students.

⭐ Most Popular — Best Default Choice

↗️

Slide

Retain the same college but upgrade to a better branch within that college in the next round. For example: allotted GL Bajaj ECE but want CSE in GL Bajaj — choose Slide. Only effective if a better branch in the same college becomes vacant.

🎯 Best For: Happy with college, want better branch

Based on historical UPTAC counselling data — general expectations at different rank ranges. UPTAC Round 2 cutoffs usually open up slightly compared to Round 1. Actual cutoffs vary by round and category.

AKTU Counselling 2026 – JEE Main Rank vs College Category
JEE Main Rank (General) Expected Colleges Admission Prospects
Under 50,000 AKGEC, KIET, GL Bajaj, JSS, ABES — top AKTU colleges, CSE branch Excellent
50,000 – 1 Lakh AKGEC/KIET possible; GL Bajaj CSE; good branches at tier-2 AKTU colleges High
1 Lakh – 3 Lakh Mid-tier AKTU affiliated colleges; ECE/IT/ME branches available Moderate
3 Lakh and above Lower-ranked and newer AKTU private colleges; limited branch options; special rounds recommended Limited

* Category candidates (OBC/SC/ST/EWS) have different cutoffs. OBC candidates typically get seats at ranks 1.5–2× the General cutoff for the same college. Round 2 cutoffs generally open up slightly compared to Round 1 as some seats become vacant.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

These mistakes have cost many students their preferred seats in past UPTAC counselling rounds. Don't repeat them.

Ignoring the Round 2 result today — check your allotment immediately and don't wait till the last day to act.

No APAAR ID ready — generating it last-minute during registration wastes critical time.

Uploading blurry documents — failed verification delays choice filling access by days.

Filling only 1–3 choices — always fill the maximum valid choices for best outcome probability.

Wrong Freeze/Float/Slide choice — selecting Freeze early gives up potential upgrades. Understand all three options first.

Missing the 26 July seat fee deadline — even 1 hour late causes seat cancellation. Set multiple payment reminders.

Not manually locking choices — auto-lock may not reflect your true priority. Always lock before deadline.

Skipping special rounds — unexpected high-quality seats often appear in special rounds for lower-ranked students.

Expert Tips for UPTAC 2026

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything students ask about AKTU / UPTAC Counselling 2026 — answered clearly.

The UPTAC 2026 Round 2 seat allotment result was declared on 24 July 2026 on the official portal, uptac.samarth.edu.in. Candidates can log in with their JEE Main application number and UPTAC password to check their allotted college, branch and category under the "Seat Allotment" tab.

Candidates allotted a seat in Round 2 must submit their willingness (Freeze or Float) and pay the seat acceptance fee by 26 July 2026. Missing this deadline results in immediate cancellation of the allotted seat, so it's important to act as soon as the result is checked.

Go to uptac.samarth.edu.in and log in with your JEE Main 2026 application number and UPTAC password. Click on the "Seat Allotment" tab on your dashboard to view the UPTAC Round 2 result, showing your allotted college, branch, and category. Download the provisional allotment letter — it is required for seat acceptance and physical reporting.

UPTAC Round 2 cutoffs (opening and closing ranks) vary by college, branch and category, and are usually slightly relaxed compared to Round 1 as some candidates freeze, withdraw, or fail to pay the seat fee, freeing up vacancies. Exact college and branch-wise Round 2 cutoff ranks are published by AKTU alongside the seat allotment result on uptac.samarth.edu.in.

UPTAC 2026 has 4 main rounds, 1 internal sliding round (for physically reported candidates), and 2 special rounds in August 2026. Special rounds are open to JEE Main, CUET UG, and Class 12 merit candidates, including those from outside Uttar Pradesh.

The UPTAC 2026 registration fee was ₹1,000 (one-time, non-refundable, registration is now closed). The seat acceptance fee is ₹20,000 for General/OBC candidates and ₹12,000 for SC/ST candidates. This fee is paid after each round's allotment and is adjusted against final college admission fees.

Yes, APAAR ID (Academic Bank of Credits ID) is mandatory for UPTAC 2026 registration. The registration process cannot be completed without it. Generate your APAAR ID via DigiLocker (digilocker.gov.in) before starting registration.

Freeze means permanently accepting the current allotted seat with no further participation in upgrade rounds. Float means retaining the current seat while remaining eligible for a better college or branch in subsequent rounds — this is the most popular choice. Slide means keeping the same college but trying for a better branch within that same college in the next round.

Yes. Candidates who remained unallotted after Round 1 are automatically evaluated again in Round 2 against the updated vacancy list, without needing to submit a fresh application. Only Float candidates from Round 1 who paid the seat acceptance fee were allowed to edit their choices in the Round 2 choice-filling window.

Yes, CUET UG candidates can apply for UPTAC 2026, but only if they specifically selected AKTU as a participating university at the time of filling the CUET UG application form. Candidates who did not choose AKTU in their CUET form are not eligible for the main counselling rounds via CUET scores.

Missing the seat acceptance fee deadline results in immediate cancellation of your allotted seat. The seat is then offered to the next eligible candidate. There is no grace period — set multiple reminders well before the deadline and keep funds ready in your payment account.

Withdrawal from UPTAC 2026 is allowed in Rounds 2, 3, and 4. On withdrawal, a partial refund of the seat acceptance fee is processed after applicable deductions. You will need to submit your bank account details for the refund. Once you withdraw, you exit the counselling process entirely for that academic year.
